چکیده

We present here an analysis of the theoretical uncertainties associated to the predicted solar neutrino rates for the current gallium, chlorine and water-Cherenkov experiments. We estimate the theoretical rates and their error matrices in three independent solar models (proposed by Bahcall and Pinsonneault, Turck-Chi eze and Lopes, and Dar and Shaviv), and compare them to the experimental data. We show that the correlations of the theoretical uncertainties are crucial to assess the statistical signi cance of the solar neutrino de cit. The implications of a parametrization of the errors in terms of the central temperature of the Sun are also discussed. CERN-TH.7358/94 BARI-TH/181-94 July 1994

Treating solar model uncertainties: A consistent statistical analysis of solar neutrino models and data.

We describe how to consistently incorporate solar model uncertainties, along with experimental errors and correlations, when analyzing solar neutrino data to derive confidence limits on parameter space for proposed solutions of the solar neutrino problem. Our work resolves ambiguities and inconsistencies in the previous literature. As an application of our methods we calculate the masses and mi...

New constraints on neutrino oscillations in vacuum as a possible solution of the solar neutrino problem.

Two-neutrino oscillations in vacuum are studied as a possible solution of the solar neutrino problem. New constraints on the parameter sin 2θ, characterizing the mixing of the electron neutrino with another active or sterile neutrino, as well as on the mass–squared difference, ∆m2, of their massive neutrino components, are derived using the latest results from the four solar neutrino experiment...

v 1 4 N ov 1 99 6 STANDARD PHYSICS SOLUTION TO THE SOLAR NEUTRINO PROBLEM ?

The 8 B solar neutrino flux predicted by the standard solar model (SSM) is consistent within the theoretical and experimental uncertainties with that observed at Kamiokande. The Gallium and Chlorine solar neutrino experiments, however, seem to imply that the 7 Be solar neutrino flux is strongly suppressed compared with that predicted by the SSM. If the 7 Be solar neutrino flux is suppressed, st...

Constraints on Energy Independent Solutions of the Solar Neutrino Problem

We analyze the latest published solar neutrino data assuming an arbitrary neutrino oscillation/conversion mechanism suppresses the electron neutrino flux from the Sun independent of energy. For oscillations/transitions into active (sterile) neutrinos such mechanisms are ruled out at 99.96 (99.9997) % C.L. assuming the standard solar model by Bahcall and Pinnsoneault ’95 correctly predicts all s...

Implications of combined solar-neutrino observations and their theoretical uncertainties.

Constraints on the core temperature (T c) of the Sun and on neutrino-oscillation parameters are obtained from the existing solar neutrino data, including the recent GALLEX and Kamiokande III results. (1) A purely astrophysical solution to the solar neutrino problem is strongly disfavored by the data: the best fit in a cooler Sun model requires an 8% reduction in T c , but the χ 2 test rejects t...
